Creative Schools Week in Marino School - 8th to 12th May 2023
Students and staff in Marino School celebrated arts and creativity from 8 - 12 May, 2023. This is an annual Arts Council initiative in schools all over Ireland. The theme of this year’s Creative Week is “Creativity Lives Here” and offers us an opportunity to reflect on the creativity in our lives. Students in Marino School have opportunities to express and develop these skills across curricular areas and through different mediums. In particular, we have brought creativity into STEM education, whether it be designing dream playgrounds in Minecraft or polydrons, to storyboarding and filming their stop motion movies.
During Creative Week, the whole school came together to celebrate both creativity and community, by crafting dream houses with a range of different materials, (e.g. playdough, cardboard, duplo, magnaforms, wooden shapes etc) to collectively build a town where our creativity lives. Members of the school community had fun exploring the “Marino town” which was on display in the main foyer. Well done to everyone on your creativity!
