Dublin Bus Visits Marino

On Friday 6th of March, the students of Marino were treated to a long anticipated visit by Dublin Bus. The experience was positive from the very beginning. Roger and the other members of the crew were fantastic and, upon arrival, introduced themselves and adapted to the needs of the students in the school.

They explained who they were, what their job involves, and set out the parameters of their visit. They also provided special cards for use by people with additional needs on public transport.

The students were very enthusiastic, and when the first bus arrived, they boarded one by one as the staff from Dublin Bus welcomed them aboard. The students sat down and settled in comfortably so they could enjoy the space. They remained on the bus for ten minutes which allowed them time to feel at ease in their new surroundings.

After this, a second bus arrived and was used to travel around the town. The students disembarked the first bus and followed the same process, using the contactless cards they had been given to tap as they boarded the second bus.

With lots of smiles, and great excitement, the students were treated to a private tour of Bray. The highlight was driving past the seafront with perfect weather conditions allowing for fantastic views out onto the Irish Sea.

The whole experience was very enjoyable . The staff from Dublin Bus were not only very kind, but also highly attentive and considerate of the needs of the students. Overall, the visit was enriching and highly educational for our students. Such was the success, another event is in the pipeline for not too distant future.
