Parent Association

The Parent Association consists of all parents/guardians of a child or children attending Marino Community Special School.

Our aim is to work together with all the stakeholders of the school –the principal and staff, the Board of Management, the students and the whole school community to build an effective partnership between home and school.

In Marino School, great emphasis is placed on working in partnership with parents towards creating the best educational environment, facilities and resources to meet the needs of students. Parents are central to the team process in addressing the learning needs of students in Marino School.

Our Parent Association is affiliated to the National Parents Council – Primary.

The Parent Association Committee

Each year parent members will be elected to the committee. The purpose of the committee is to manage the responsibility of the parents' association on behalf of all parents. From these representatives, parents are asked to nominate and elect a chairperson, secretary and treasurer.

Parents are encouraged to attend meetings so that your valuable input can be received. It is your opportunity to voice ideas and suggestions which may prove invaluable for the betterment of the Parent’s Association and the wider school experience for all students.

N.B. It is important to note that the Parent Association is not a forum for complaint against any individual parent or teacher. Should you have any such concerns the school operates an open door policy and the class teacher and principal are available to discuss privately with you, any issues you may have.

The Parent Association is happy to support, advise and represent parents on general issues, relevant to all attending the school.

The Data Protection Commissioner has produced four short guides for parents on children’s data protection rights under the GDPR. These guides are intended to help parents to understand their children’s rights and to answer questions that can arise in typical situations where those rights apply.
